Powering into the nuclear sector

An investment of almost £1m in CNC machine tools has been confirmed by TPG Engineering, a Dukinfield-based, 70-employee manufacturer of heat exchangers and condensers. The move is intended to springboard the business into a new area of large titanium workpieces for nuclear industry clients.

The two new machines – a Soraluce TA-A35 travelling table mill-bore centre and a Hankook VTC 200 E vertical turning lathe (VTL) – will be supplied by exclusive UK and Ireland agent, TW Ward CNC Machinery (Ward CNC). They are scheduled for imminent delivery to TPG Engineering’s Manchester site, where first use will be on the company’s new two-year, £1.5m contract with GE Oil & Gas.
