Turbocharged expansion for Redditch manufacturer

Diversifying into new markets is paying off for a Redditch-based manufacturer that has secured more than £2m of additional sales. Thermex Ltd is heading towards £6.5m turnover in 2017 after winning work to supply new technology to customers in the marine and off-highway vehicle sectors. Supported by the Manufacturing Growth Programme (MGP), the company has developed high-performance shell and tube heat exchangers, and expanded its range to include air blast radiators, oil coolers and specialist brazed plate variants.

The boost follows an extensive £1.3m investment programme that has seen the addition of new ovens, a tube expander and fin press. “We are delighted with the support we received from MGP and Pro Enviro,” says managing director Julian Crossley. “They came in, looked at the issue we had with our energy prices and our desire to be more sustainable, and came up with an action plan that was simple to implement. Better still, the investment we made will be paid back within two years.”
